Giant Periscope
We invented and built the Giant Periscope for the National Maritime Museum Cornwall. Going from the main exhibition area to the first floor, the periscope is over 5m tall and is covered in rusty rivets, making it look as if it has just been pulled from the murky depths. Its main aim is entertainment and if kids don’t have a friend upstairs to peer back down at them, a giant compass rose gives them a bearing to try and spot some objects hidden around the building. The giant periscope is part of the NMMC’s 2008 main exhibition ‘Under the Sea’ which received an excellent review in the Museums Journal May 08 edition.
